With school yard bullying often making the evening news and kids coming home every day with stories of watching peers get pushed down, yelled at and called names by other kids, it become apparent that we have a generation of kids who no longer know what empathy is. When you become a parent, life changes.  It changes in ways you could never imagine.  It changes in ways you are completely unprepared for. We begin to focus on things, little things, teeny tiny, subtle things. I would bet money many parents can tell you the first day their child sat up on their own.
